The IOC works with its stakeholders to raise awareness on integrity topics, in particular among young athletes.

During the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), the Athlete365 Space, located in the heart of the Youth Olympic Village, hosts various activities as part of the Athlete “Compete, Learn and Share” Education Programme, each related to a different aspect of sporting education and integrity.

The Believe in Sport booth helps young athletes to better understand the risks of competition manipulation and raise awareness of how they may unwittingly be involved in it.

During the Winter YOG in Lillehammer 2016, athletes were taught about the threat of competition manipulation and how they can play an active role in preventing any form of cheating in their sport through an interactive quiz and workshops. Olympians were on hand to help spread these messages, hosting workshops and talking to the young athletes about this topic.

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), working in collaboration with the IOC, conducted a Sport Integrity workshop to educate 200 ice hockey players and officials on the dangers of competition manipulation.

During the Summer YOG in Buenos Aires in 2018, the IOC activated for the first time its Believe in Sport campaign at a dedicated booth in the Athlete365 Space. The young athletes were invited to test the new app in which users can create their own athlete avatar from a selfie and learn about the different ways they could get caught in the web of sport-competition manipulation. They also learned about other elements of the toolbox for action against competition manipulation.

At the 2018 YOG in Buenos Aires, three “IF Focus Days”, conducted by AIBA, World Rugby and World Taekwondo, also served to educate athletes about important integrity topics.
