PROJECT:
iLEAP
What we do: The Inclusive Leadership Program bridges the gap between the abled and differently-abled youth athletes in sports leadership.
How we do it? iLEAP is a 3d2n stay-in programme that focuses on developing essential leadership skills through the 4 core modules - sport values, healthy living, life skills and social competency. Sessions were led by athletes or ex-athletes, who are also an expert or professional relevant to the module. Young leaders will improve level of self awareness and knowledge on health, values, life skills, strength as an athlete and social awareness after joining the programme. They also receive mentorship and guidance from experienced sport leaders.
How far we’ve come:
iLEAP has broken down barriers by organizing the first leadership programme that includes athletes with disability (para-athletes and special needs athletes). We have inspired more than 180 young athletes and created opportunities for 32% of the athletes (with disabilities) to reach their full potential through this sports leadership initiative. More than 20 particpants were transformed to become young leaders, taking lead in the programme and/or in their schools.
