**BIO**

Nicky is a former athlete and academic who was selected as a Belgian Young Change-Maker (now IOC Young Leader) for her work in the fight against doping. She is currently working for the Belgian NOC as an Athlete Pathway Manager.

Young Leader - Nicky Van Rossem project

**PROJECT DESCRIPTION**

Nicky’s project is based on a four-year World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) study identifying incentives and deterrents for drug-taking behaviour in elite sport, in order to prevent young athletes from doping. The project centred on two anti-doping events in Belgium, which were used to transfer academic and applied knowledge on the psychological aspects of doping use to talented and elite athletes, coaches, policymakers and high-performance managers. The aim is to support the development of more preventive anti-doping strategies to complement the existing repressive strategies based on detection.
