Mothusi Ramaabya
BIO
Mothusi is a passionate sports volunteer who joined the Olympic family in 2013 as a Young Ambassador during the Youth Olympic Games Nanjing 2014. He has continued to make an impact in Botswana through projects driving social change through sport, as well as supporting development through sport in disadvantaged communities.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Mothusi’s project uses sport to teach mathematics, while also promoting sport in disadvantaged communities. It responds to an environment where participation in sport is often discouraged and a lack of resources in schools can hold back academic performance. The project uses sport to demonstrate the application of mathematical concepts, creating a balance between learning and playing. An additional aim is to achieve greater buy-in for sports within these communities, by growing understanding of how sport can support education.
