Ghina believes that sport has taught her more than she can put into words. Still, she’s determined to try. Her goal is to combine her passion for sport with her passion for writing in order to create a product that will help drive social change.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Ghina’s project is “Rise Above”, a children’s book that tells the stories of refugees in sports. The style and format will be adapted to young children, particularly girls. The objective is to promote equality, sport-based education, and refugee empowerment. The illustrated book will carry a message of unity, peace, triumph and hope. It will provide concrete examples to young people from refugee communities, showing how others in similar circumstances have overcome extreme obstacles and gone on to thrive. The aim is for the reader to know that they can also rise above the label of “refugee.”
