Betsmara Cruz
BIO
Betsmara is a social entrepreneur dedicated to advancing sports-based solutions for underprivileged communities. She works as a coordinator for the Puerto Rican National Olympic Committee. A qualified lawyer, currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy, she is a member of the IOC Public Affairs and Social Development through Sport Commission.
Project description
Betsmara’s project is a national fundraising event supporting the Puerto Rican NOC’s “Moving For Our People Fund” through the sale of Olympic Values-based colouring books. The proceeds enable the organisation of active events and educational programmes for underprivileged communities, focused on healthy living and the Olympic Values .
The aim is for the books to reach 2,500 young people aged 4-9, with two-thirds of proceeds going directly to the fund. More than 400 young people and 24 faculty members in schools are engaged in physical activity through Moving For Our People programming.
