Amir Urunov

BIO

Amir is an active volunteer in Tajikistan. He completed his Masters degree in management and now runs a volunteer movement in his country. His team organises charity, scientific and sports events. Through the IOC's Young Leaders programme he wants to make a difference in orphans’ lives.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

“Sports for Health” has run events for 114 orphans and gifted children, introducing them to sports such as badminton, archery, table tennis and volleyball. The sessions included education on the history and the basic rules of the sports, basic skills training, athlete coaching sessions and organised tournaments complete with medal ceremonies to inspire a taste for competition. Each child is also given tools and equipment to continue practicing the sport in their own time,
