Mamadou D. Ndiaye is an IOC Member, serving on the International Olympic Committee’s Sport and Environment Commission, chaired by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, and the IOC’s International Relations Commission, chaired by Mario Pescante. He is also President of the Senegalese National Olympic Committee.

Ndiaye has led a long career in sport. He is a former President of the Senegalese Tennis Federation, former President of the Senegalese Football Association and former President of the African Tennis Confederation. He was also a former special adviser to Francesco Ricci Bitti during his term in office as the President of the International Tennis Federation in London, as well as special advisor to the President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM). Currently, he serves as Vice-President of the Senegalese Sailing Federation.

Outside sport, Ndiaye has served as advisor to the President of the Republic of Senegal, with responsibility for investments and the Strategy Committee; a member of Harvard University’s International Economic Alliance; a member of the honorary committee of French news magazine Le Point; and President of the French humanitarian association Plus Fort la Vie.

Ndiaye’s awards and distinctions include: Officer of the National Order of the Lion of Senegal; Commander of the Order of Merit of the French Republic; Commander of the Order of Isabella the Catholic, conferred by the King of Spain in Madrid; and he has been decorated with the French Order of Merit and Legion of Honour at the Elysée Palace by presidents François Mitterand and Jacques Chirac, respectively.

Using the unique power of sport to bring people together, the Olympism in Action Forum saw a range of global players, including Olympic Movement stakeholders, athletes, private and public sector leaders, NGO representatives, academics, artists and the media come together to talk on topical contemporary issues. Chosen because of their ability to effect change and their wide range of sometimes differing opinions, the speakers led lively debates and seeked to challenge received wisdom to inspire new ways of thinking.
