Dan Reed
Vice President, Global Sports and Media Partnerships
Dan Reed is Facebook's Head of Global Sports Partnerships, where his team’s mission is to connect, entertain and engage the world’s largest community of sports fans. In this role, Reed leads strategic partnerships with leagues, teams, athletes, broadcasters and publishers, helping them grow and engage their global fan bases; develop and distribute their content in innovative digital and social formats; and achieve their business goals across all of Facebook’s platforms and experiences – including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Oculus. Reed and his team also collaborate with Facebook’s product and engineering teams to develop innovative and personalised experiences for sports fans, enabling them to watch videos of their favourite sports and teams; engage with their favourite athletes; express their fandom with friends and related communities; connect around live sporting events; and more.
Reed joined Facebook after a 10-year career at the National Basketball Association (NBA) where, as President of the NBA Development League, he led the turnaround of the NBA’s minor league into a financially valuable property and a thriving talent development system. He also helped drive record business results advising NBA team executives as a Senior Director with the NBA’s Team Marketing and Business Operations (TMBO) unit. Prior to the NBA, Reed worked as a management consultant with A.T. Kearney.
He was recently named one of Sports Business Journal’s “50 Most Influential People in Sports Business” and is a “40 Under 40” award recipient from both Sports Business Journal and Crain’s New York Business.
Reed holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Northwestern University, and resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two sons.
