INTERPOL, Integrity in Sport Team

Claudio Marinelli is a Criminal Intelligence Officer for the Integrity in Sports Team at the General Secretariat of INTERPOL in Lyon (France), where he is the Project Manager of the INTERPOL Match-Fixing Task Force, a worldwide network of investigators dealing with manipulation of sport competitions.

Marinelli is a financial investigator from the Italian Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza), seconded from Italy. Prior to joining INTERPOL, he was dealing with criminal and financial investigations at the International Police Cooperation Service in Italy, the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Rome. With strong experience in international match-fixing cases and fluency in four languages, he was appointed as National Point of Contact for the INTERPOL and EUROPOL match-fixing police cooperation platforms and as Expert for the Italian Presidency of the Council of Minister – Office for Sport, upon decree of the Head of Police and the General Director of Public Security.

Marinelli has been responsible for the organisation, both at domestic and international levels, of several workshops and seminars, as trainer/speaker in a wide range of topics related to match-fixing, financial investigation and asset recovery, and he is the author of several books.

He is a graduate of economy and companies legislation and specialised at the Economic and Financial Superior School of Guardia di Finanza.
