15 July 2024 - Several of Jordan’s athletes who have qualified for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 joined in with the Olympic Day celebrations on 29 June. Organised by the NOC, the event was held at Prince Hamza Hall in Al Hussein Youth City, with a large number of young and promising athletes from various Jordanian sports federations across different age groups mixing with the Olympians. The athletes preparing for Paris were introduced with an interactive Q&A session, and joined in with the demonstrations that showcased a number of sports to promote the Olympic values. **05 February 2024 - **Throughout January this year, the JOC showed its unwavering commitment to educating its athletes by holding workshops focused on equipping athletes with tools to succeed in their careers once they retire from competition. More than 80 Jordanian athletes took part in the Athlete365 Career+ programme, endorsed by the IOC. Organised by the Jordan Olympic Academy, the programme proposed several topics including life skills, education and employment, ranging from self-discovery to creating resumes, while the workshops simultaneously offered the opportunity to learn from fellow athletes and Olympians. 20 November 2023 - The JOC has launched a campaign entitled “Our Sport, Our Health” to mark World Diabetes Day on 14 November, with free screenings being offered throughout the Kingdom. The JOC is committed to promoting sport and the benefits of healthy living in Jordan and will work with MedLabs, the leading provider of diagnostic laboratory testing in Jordanian healthcare, and in partnership with the Military Consumer Establishment to provide free testing at seven different locations throughout the country. The campaign will include informative brochures about healthy nutrition programmes and the benefits of engaging in physical activities to help prevent or reduce the risk of diabetes. 22 May 2020 - The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) is encouraging athletes to become part of the “Be the champ, stay at home” social media campaign, which promotes the critical importance of the wider public following the Ministry of Health’s policies aimed at limiting the spread of the coronavirus. The JOC, in partnership with Jordan’s sports federations, has asked its individual and team athletes to implore their fans to remain indoors and comply with the government’s directives. 09 March 2020 - The Asia and Oceania boxing qualifier for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will take place in Amman, Jordan, from 3 to 11 March. The event, organised by the IOC’s Boxing Task Force and the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), will see 151 men and 70 women from 35 countries compete for 63 Tokyo 2020 places. 28 February 2020 - The Western Asia Table Tennis qualifiers kickstarted a series of major Olympic qualification events in the Jordanian capital of Amman. Besides this table tennis tournament (24 to 26 February), the Jordanian NOC and its national federations will host the Asia/Oceania Boxing Qualifying Event from 3 to 11 March, and the taekwondo qualifier from 10 to 12 April. 15 January 2019 - At its last meeting of 2018, held in Amman, the Jordan NOC Board expressed its confidence for 2019 following a strong year for the NOC. Led by IOC Member Prince Feisal Al Hussein, the Board discussed the sporting successes of 2018 and identified areas that need to be improved in each of the NOC’s five strategic drivers, including Sport for All, further federation development and sports psychology. The Jordan Prevention of Harassment and Abuse in Sport Regulations, which had been pre-approved by the IOC, were also presented to the Board and later the General Assembly. Info at www.joc.jo.
