13 november 2023 - Some 101 athletes, coaches and support staff joined the Austrian Olympic Committee team and high-calibre experts at the Gloria Sports Arena in Belek, Turkey, for a one-week training camp to get in the mood for next year's Olympic Games. Tokyo medallists Anna Kiesenhofer, Magdalena Lobnig and Jakob Schubert shared their strategies for success during the team evening, while experts from the Austrian Olympic Centres, NADA Austria, Play Fair Code, the Austrian Federal Network for Sports Psychology and the Austrian NOC were on hand for the workshops and presentations. The topics ranged from female athletes, holistic heat management and mental resilience at Games time, to practical tips from sports science and for Paris 2024. Under the motto "Train with Champions", all of the participants also had the opportunity to try out artistic swimming with the Alexandri triplets, spinning with Anna Kiesenhofer and Christina Schweinberger and fencing with the national team. 20 july 2020 - The Austrian NOC and Austrian Athletics are staging a One-Hour Heptathlon on 23 July, exactly one year to go until the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Ivona Dadic, the current number 9 in the IAAF World Ranking and two-time Olympic participant, who has already qualified for the Tokyo Games, will face younger team member Sarah Lagger, and Swiss Under-23 European champion Géraldine Ruckstuhl. Austrian record-holder and World Championships bronze medallist Verena Preiner will be acting as a commentator for Austrian TV. Austrian TV is running an one-hour talk show at prime time later in the evening called “One Year To Go – Tokyo 2021”, during which the athletes and other potential Austrian Olympic athletes will be talking about their personal preparations for 2021. 22 may 2020 - The Austrian NOC has announced that, since 20 April, all seven national Olympic Training Centres and other top training facilities are reopening after a COVID-19 shutdown of five weeks. Only around 600 top professional athletes are allowed to use the training facilities. Just in time for the restart, 10,000 face masks donated by the Chinese NOC arrived at the Austrian NOC headquarters in Vienna. More info here.
