Participated in three editions of the Olympic Winter Games: Oslo 1952, Cortina d’Ampezzo 1956 and Squaw Valley 1960; Olympic Silver medallist in slalom (alpine skiing), Cortina d’Ampezzo 1956; won several Japanese and US national skiing championships as well as many other international competitions
