During these last months, the International Federations (IFs) have continued to undertake a number of important initiatives in the field of governance and the protection of sport integrity.
ASOIF and AIOWF publish third review of IF governance
Since the last integrity newsletter edition, the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) has published the findings of the third governance review of its full and associate member federations. The review reveals an overall improved performance, with the highest scores achieved in the area of transparency. Learn more.
The seven members of the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) adopted the same procedure as ASOIF, and their most recent assessment showed substantial progress by all of the sports since 2018. Read more.
Biathlon Integrity Unit launches new website
The Biathlon Integrity Unit recently launched its new website www.biathlonintegrity.com to provide a one-stop shop for all integrity-related matters in the sport of biathlon. It provides information on matters such as anti-doping, safeguarding, diversity and anti-corruption. Learn more.
Gymnastics Ethics Foundation publishes first Annual Report
The Gymnastics Ethics Foundation published its 2019 Annual Report, which summarises the key activities of its first full year of operation. The independent body, established by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) in December 2018, aims to ensure that violations of FIG rules, policies and procedures, including ethical breaches, are handled in an unbiased way. WBSC and WT create Integrity Units
Both the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and World Taekwondo (WT) recently established Integrity Units in order to centralise all integrity-related functions in their respective sports, as part of the federations’ commitment to upholding high standards of good governance and protecting their athletes.
