Biography

A former broadcast journalist, Mark Adams joined the IOC in 2009 as Communications Director. He moved to Lausanne after 10 years as Director of Communications for the World Economic Forum in Geneva, where he modernised the communications for the annual meeting in Davos.

After serving as Communications Director, introducing social media to the organisation, he became the IOC President’s spokesperson, backed by a small audiovisual team and speech-writing function.

As a broadcaster, he was trained at the BBC and eventually rose to be a Programme Editor at ITN, helping to launch a new national channel and nightly news programme.

He later became Editorial Director at the 24-hour news service EuroNews, based in Lyon, which broadcast internationally in eight languages.

Adams has a degree in economics and politics from the University of Manchester, and another in art history from the Open University. (He is also a lifelong supporter of Arsenal Football Club)
