In this section, you can discover a number of new resources which have been published recently by the IOC and the IPC and are available on the IOC’s new Games Learning Platform (GLP).

Since the launch of this new platform earlier this year, all audiovisual content has been uploaded. Therefore, the GLP, acting as the single point of entry into IOC content that supports Games delivery, has replaced Visual Games Learning (VGL) and offers many new exciting features. The users’ search experience has improved significantly, with dedicated channels for OCOG-produced content (OPC), structured interviews, etc. Content can be rolled out in a targeted way to each OCOG and depending on the Functional Area. Stay tuned for general search tips and new learning journeys to be shared soon!

Learning journeys

Two new learning journeys have been published on GLP: “An introduction on how to develop and implement the Games Plan” is directed specifically at Brisbane 2032, and “Introduction to Communications, Command & Control (C3) – How we share information and make decisions at the Games” is aimed at Paris 2024.

New video clip Workforce at the Games – IOC Games Learning (edcast.com)

In less than 13 minutes, this clip highlights the complexity of mobilising up to 150,000 workforce members for the organisation of the Games. It explains the importance of fully training, engaging and preparing paid staff, volunteers and contractors alike to ensure the success of the Games and a positive experience for all stakeholders. Beyond the Games, the workforce remains the human legacy of the Games, providing valuable skills in the job market and leaving many positive social impacts, such as an increase in voluntary activity.

Paris 2024 OPC

The 7th Paris 2024 OCOG-produced content drop has been made available by Paris 2024 and can be found on GLP.

Educational films

A number of educational films, featuring the insights of key OCOG FAs, advisors and stakeholders shared during the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, are now available on GLP. The short interviews focus on a range of Games services and technology, and are aimed at capturing important knowledge for future OCOGs.

Structured interviews

The third round of structured interviews with Paris 2024, on planning, and the second round with Milano Cortina 2026, on observation, have been published on GLP, and can be searched for by selecting “podcast” as the content type.

Accreditation at the Paralympic Games – Detailed Specifications

The updated version of Annex 2, “Accreditation at the Paralympic Games Detailed Specifications”, to the Olympic Host Contract (OHC) – Operational Requirements can now be accessed through GLP. As usual, the main changes from the previous versions are listed in a dedicated section.

Olympic Games Guides

The following three Olympic Games Guides were updated recently and are now available on GLP:

  • The Olympic Games Guide on People Management was updated extensively to reflect the latest terminology and IOC planning principles (i.e. Event Delivery Model). The dates contained in the document now also correspond to the latest Master Schedule milestones. In addition, information and examples/data from recent editions of the Games have been integrated.
  • The Olympic Games Guide on Transport was restructured to be more reader friendly. At the same time, the document was updated to reflect the latest evolution of the Games transport systems and service delivery. The guide now includes examples of recent Games editions and a dedicated section on transport signage, reflecting the importance of this aspect for transport planning and service delivery.
  • The Olympic Games Guide on Energy has been aligned with the latest OHC – Operational Requirements. Certain content has been clarified; and data, statistics and examples from the latest Games editions have been integrated. Considerations related to TOP contracts were also revised.

More Olympic Games Guides will be updated by the end of the year, including the Guides on Technology, Media Part 1 – General Services and Press Operations, Media Part 2 – Broadcasting, and more.
