Major multi-sport event organisers embrace awareness-raising measures

A number of major multi-sport events are coming up, and the OM Unit PMC has been working with the respective organisers to help prevent competition manipulation. Education on the necessary rules and on awareness-raising measures for athletes and their entourages has taken place in the run-up to the following events:  

• the Mediterranean Games (25 June to 5 July in Oran, Algeria);

• the European Youth Olympic Festival (24 to 30 July in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia); and

• the Commonwealth Games (28 July to 8 August in Birmingham, UK).

The above events usually attract a significant number of high-level athletes and involve many NOCs. At Games time, educational booths on the prevention of competition manipulation will be set up and related activities provided. For the Mediterranean Games, a web training session was also organised for the Chefs de Mission prior to the Games.
