Task Force activities update
IPACS activities have been evolving over recent months, with some good progress made by the four Task Forces.
IPACS recently released another section of the “Accompanying Guidelines” for the IPACS Sport Governance Benchmark – being developed by Task Force 3. National and international sports organisations can now consult “Dimension D”, dedicated to development and solidarity. Other sections published previously cover integrity, transparency and democracy. The sections on checks and balances and internal processes, as well as the introduction to the benchmark, will be available later in the year. The guidelines aim to support stakeholders in the practical implementation of each of the benchmark recommendations. They feature useful definitions, explanations on the importance and application of each benchmark and the required investments, as well as specific guidance according to the organisation’s situation (early, developing or advanced stage) and best practice examples.
Meanwhile, Task Force 2 met in early June to discuss and complete a new document entitled “Mitigating the risks in the candidature process of major sport events”. The final version will be available and presented to the Steering Committee for its endorsement in due course.
A new study aimed at identifying best practices and proposing recommendations on the application of national legislation to cases of corruption in sport is being initiated by Task Force 4. It is aimed at lawmakers, policymakers, prosecutors and other relevant officials and follows up on the first publication by this Task Force, which set out international anti-bribery laws and standards.
