OMEGA will be the Official Timekeeper of every event at PyeongChang 2018 and, with just 50 days to go, the iconic watchmaker is now preparing to send 300 timekeepers and 230 tons of equipment. They will also have 350 trained volunteers on the ground to help support their massive operation.
This will be OMEGA’s 28th time in the role since 1932, and they know just how important their job can be. The athletes train for years to reach the Olympic Games, which is why OMEGA will be committed to every split-second of their performances. Once again, the brand’s timekeeping equipment is being installed and calibrated to meet the world’s highest standard, so that no result will be in doubt.
“OMEGA has been the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games on 27 occasions since 1932. PyeongChang 2018 will be our 28th and we feel very proud to be returning to this prestigious multi-sport event. Recently, OMEGA and the IOC extended their partnership until 2032, meaning we are on track for 100 years of Olympic Games service. It’s a great testament to our enduring relationship, our dedication to the athletes, and our history of precision and innovation,” said Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA.
