The construction of the Segre Olympic Park (White Water Centre) in La Seu d'Urgell‎, a medieval town in the Spanish Pyrenees, was a significant milestone which changed the face of the town forever. It represented a strategic investment with the aim of attracting visitors through rafting and leisure activities, which was in line with the town council’s ambition to become a mountain sports resort.

Since the Olympic Games, 18 International Canoe Federation (ICF) World Cup races have been held at the venue, including the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in 1999 and 2009. In 2010, the centre hosted the Pirineus Cup, a canoeing event stretching over the months of March and April. The venue also plays host to numerous national and regional canoe competitions.

In addition to hosting slalom competitions, the venue is used as a tourist attraction by schools, families and businesses. It offers a wide variety of activities such as rafting, hydrology, mountain biking and Nordic walking. The facility hosts a local canoe club (Club Cadí Canöe Kayak) for the development of canoe slalom, and a high-performance centre.
