Managed by the New South Wales Government Office of Sport, the venue is home to competitions ranging from school rowing and canoeing regattas to national championships. It also hosts the Western Sydney Marathon and offers swimming, fishing, cycling and picnic facilities for the public.

Like many Sydney 2000 venues, the centre has also been utilised to host conferences and weddings to generate revenue.
