Thirty years after her aunt Gabriela won a tennis silver medal at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, Oriana achieved a career-first on Saturday 13 October when she performed for the first time in front of her aunt, a former Grand Slam champion tennis player.

The concert is just another part of the wider experience of the Youth Olympic Games. While sport is the heartbeat of the event, there are also an array of cultural events around the various parks and venues in Argentina’s capital city.

For Oriana, who was born and raised in Buenos Aires, and who has supported acts such as Coldplay and Ariana Grande, it was a memorable experience to perform her concert at Youth Olympic Park.

“I’m super happy to be a part of this and to have my aunt in the audience for the first time here it’s crazy,” said the singer.

Her aunt’s illustrious tennis career also included winning the doubles at Wimbledon alongside Steffi Graf the same year, and the US Open title in 1990.

“She won an Olympic medal before I was born and for me to be here with her at an Olympic Games in our country is incredible,” Oriana said.

Aunt Gabriela, 48, was delighted to have finally caught a show from the latest star in the family.

“This is the first time I have seen Oriana live in concert,” she said. “This is really emotional for me and to see her combine her music with sports, and at an Olympic event, is fantastic. Hopefully these Youth Olympic Games will bring a lot of kids to start to practising sport. I have beautiful memories as an Olympian. The energy you get by competing at the Olympic Games is unique and to have them here is great.”
