Over the last few months, the IOC via the OM Unit PMC has not only provided support to key stakeholders and event organisers, it has also continued to advocate and share expertise at the meetings of intergovernmental expert bodies, and national as well as international partners.

INTERPOL Anti-Match-Fixing Task Force (IMTF)

The IOC took part in the annual meeting of the INTERPOL Anti-Match-Fixing Task Force (IMTF), which was held from 11 to 14 September in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The event brought together more than 90 police officers specialised in the prevention of competition manipulation. The IOC presented its activities in this important field and explained details about the long-standing partnership with INTERPOL. It also outlined its plans to monitor the Olympic competitions in Paris next summer.

Council of Europe (CoE)’s MARS prosecutors network

At the second meeting of the Council of Europe’s international network of magistrates and prosecutors responsible for sports integrity (MARS), organised in Paris, France, from 18 to 19 September, the OM Unit PMC presented the first draft of the IOC-UNODC Guide on prosecuting competition manipulations, inviting the members of the group to provide feedback and input. The Guide will be published in the first quarter of 2024.

International Athletes’ Forum

The OM Unit PMC worked with Believe in Sport ambassador Nadin Dawani from Jordan, a three-time Olympian and Asian taekwondo champion, to raise awareness about the threat of competition manipulation among more than 400 athletes’ representatives who attended the International Athletes’ Forum, organised by the IOC on 1 and 2 October in Lausanne, Switzerland. In addition to Nadin’s speech during a panel session on clean sport, the athletes' representatives had the opportunity to learn more about the topic and related rules at a dedicated booth, empowering them to pass on the right messages to their respective sporting communities.

Macolin Follow-Up Committee
On 29 and 30 November, the IOC attended the meeting of the Follow-Up Committee of the Macolin Convention during the Sport Integrity Week in Athens, Greece. The IOC has Observer status on the Follow-Up Committee, representing the entire Olympic Movement. For the first time, France joined  the Committee as a member, following its ratification of the Convention in June. During the meeting, the IOC provided an update on its recent work, in particular its plans for the upcoming Olympic competitions in 2024. In addition, it provided input for the discussions on the three working groups (responsible betting, data protection and anti-money-laundering) established by the Follow-up Committee.
