The Olympic Park, considered the most prominent post-Games landmark, is seeing record visitor numbers. In April 2020 alone, 336,000 people flocked to the vast area to walk, cycle or just relax in the place which kickstarted this millennium’s first Olympic Games. Despite a difficult period after the Games, the park is now known for its thriving cluster of world-class sports, entertainment and business facilities.

Other examples are the Penrith Whitewater Stadium and the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. The former has hosted international canoeing events such as the 2014 Junior/U-23 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships and the Oceania Canoe Slalom Championships in 2016. It is also home to the Australian canoe slalom team and is used by numerous international teams to train. The Equestrian Centre remains Australia’s premier location for equestrian competitions and equine shows. The venue’s indoor training hall has proved to be highly versatile, with 750 undercover seats, allowing it to be used to host a variety of non-equine events, including dog trials, trade shows, cross-country carnivals and weddings.
