The 2024 conference is set to introduce some exciting new formats to enhance the learning experience and provide a more comprehensive platform for discussions.

This year, we have an impressive roster of over 120 invited speakers, each a distinguished expert in their respective fields. These esteemed individuals will be sharing their insights and knowledge, contributing to the more than 400 abstract presentations scheduled throughout the event.

With over 40 symposia, 20 oral sessions, 36 workshops and nearly 300 interactive e-posters, we aim to showcase the diversity and depth of injury and illness prevention in sports medicine.

In a bid to increase the number of oral presentations, the Scientific Committee has introduced a new format – full oral sessions and brief oral sessions. The conference now boasts 13 full oral sessions, where speakers are given eight minutes to present their research, followed by a two-minute Q&A session. Brief oral sessions will allow for eight five-minute presentations, each followed by a two-minute Q&A.

Seven of these full oral sessions will be dedicated to the research of youth investigators. "We believe in nurturing young talent and have dedicated seven full oral sessions to young investigators,” says Roald Bahr, Chair of the Scientific Committee. “These sessions will focus on their research, providing them with a platform to share their work and receive valuable feedback from our colleagues."

One of the significant changes is the transformation of 90-minute symposia into state-of-the-art standalone sessions. This means there will be no parallel sessions running, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in one of the three symposia without missing out on any other event.

In an innovative move to leverage technology for better engagement, this year's conference will feature 180 moderated e-posters. These will be presented on interactive screens during a lunch-break moderated session, providing an opportunity for attendees to engage with more content and more speakers.

Over 100 abstracts accepted as e-posters will also be available via screens at the venue and through our mobile app. Presenters can upload their e-poster and record a two-minute voice-over. The mobile app also facilitates networking by allowing attendees to make appointments with e-poster authors for face-to-face discussions at the venue.

The 7th IOC World Conference on Prevention of Injury and Illness in Sport is committed to providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and research in the field of sports medicine.
