Meet Deloitte, supporting IKL to deliver insights and learning!
In the Games Learning area, Deloitte will provide support in developing a programme that will be customised to each OCOG and that will evolve regularly in order to adapt to global trends, meet shifting demands and make the Games more sustainable.
Exciting details of this collaboration were presented by Mark Lillie, Partner at Deloitte and formerly part of the London 2012 OCOG, and Neridah Jarrett, Senior Manager for Major Programme Practice, during the OCOG IKL Workshop organised at the end of June.
Optimised Games through insights and learning
“The programme is about supporting the delivery of sustainable Games through insights and learning,” said Lillie. He added: “It’s about generating and sharing actionable insights to enhance OCOG decision-making and the Olympic Movement. At the same time, we need to create learning experiences that empower high-performing OCOGs – with the right capabilities at the right time. We need to understand the current set of capabilities of each OCOG to customise the learning programmes in view of their respective lifecycles. We passionately believe in the Olympic Movement becoming a Learning Movement.”
Accordingly, the IKL team, together with Deloitte, has used these last few months to determine the primary audiences for insights, so that the learning is specific and relevant to them at each stage of the Games lifecycle. The next step will be to evolve the learning experience, for instance by applying experiential methods and immersive tools, as well as utilising best-in-class learning technologies like EdCast. Finally, Deloitte will also provide its expertise in measuring and evaluating the impact of these learning experiences, in order to adjust them where necessary or develop them further.
Key working principles
“Collaboration, agility, transparency and innovation will be our core working principles to create a favourable learning environment and make this important programme a success,” explained Jarrett. “These principles will be critical to the way the IKL team will work with OCOGs and other key stakeholders. They will ensure that learning happens reciprocally, at the right time, in the right way – from the IOC to the OCOGs and vice versa, as well as among the OCOGs themselves. We will build on some excellent work already undertaken by the IKL team in this area.”
“As a diverse, global organisation with a highly skilled workforce, Deloitte can add significant value to our activities,” explained IKL Associate Director Chris Payne. “They bring horsepower and external expertise in a number of critical areas, which complements our internal skill set well. Due to Deloitte’s global depth and breadth, we can also benefit from their assets, accelerators, networks and tools, which will save us time, ensure the sustainability of our activities and increase the quality of the outcomes.”
The teams are excited to get to work together and deliver new activities this autumn.
