It’s June! Olympic Day - celebrated on 23 June – is fast-approaching. It’s time for everyone, everywhere, of all ages and abilities, to liven up their daily routine and heed the Olympic Movement’s call to get active and enjoy the numerous benefits of sport for, or leading up, to Olympic Day.

Spurred on by a host of physical, cultural and educational Olympic Day activities organised by National Olympic Committees and International and National Federations around the world, millions of people will be moving, shaking, jumping and sweating during the month of June.

And if that’s not enough – in this Olympic year - draw inspiration from your sporting role models who are in the final stages of their preparation for the Olympic Games in Rio in August.

So what are you waiting for to join the movement?

Get off that couch, and show us what you are doing by posting photos or videos of yourself in action using #OlympicDay. You may even be in with a chance to win some cool goodies.

Physical activity is proven to provide numerous important health benefits and prevent non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular illnesses, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, depression, osteoporosis and obesity. Olympic Day is an occasion for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to promote the important role of sport in society, in particular its enormous potential as an effective tool for youth development and ensuring people lead healthier and active lives. It is also an occasion to highlight sport for all projects and community-based sport and recreation programmes, which encourage participation in sport across the globe, regardless of age, background or abilities.
