Discussions will also focus on the limits of sporting achievement. How much further can people go? Running, swimming, putting the shot and jumping: Beijing saw some extraordinary achievements and many world records beaten.
The conditions in which today’s athletes compete mean that new achievements are likely. Or have we reached the limit of humanly possible sports performance?
With medallists from the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and many other guests. Bronze medal-winning Swiss judoka Sergei Aschwanden, who was at our previous Beijing 2008 countdown Agora, has already confirmed that he will be there.
