Penrith Whitewater Stadium
A major sporting and recreation facility in Western Sydney, the Penrith Whitewater Stadium allows anyone over 12 years old to take on the challenge of Olympic-sized rapids. The course has hosted elite international canoeing events, including the 2005 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, the 2014 Junior/U-23 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships and the Oceania Canoe Slalom Championships in 2016. It also serves as a recreational facility offering whitewater rafting, kayaking and swift water rescue training courses to the public.
The Australian canoe slalom team is based at the venue, where it trains most days and in the summer is joined by numerous international teams.
Following Sydney 2000, the venue was taken over by Penrith City Council. The council reported that the venue had made an operating loss of AUD 183,000 in 2017 and generated profits of AUD 67,000 in 2018 and AUD 61,000 in 2019.
