Olympic Stadium

The Jamsil Olympic Stadium was built in 1986 to host the 10th Asian Games, two years before the Olympic Games Seoul 1988. It lies within the Jamsil complex which included an Olympic indoor swimming pool, a baseball stadium, and two indoor gymnasiums. All the venues are still in use for sport practice, tournaments and cultural events.

During the Olympic Games 1988, the stadium hosted the opening and closing ceremonies, the men’s football events as well as the equestrian jumping individual final and all the athletics events.

The stadium’s capacity was reduced from 100,000 seats to 69,500 to better adapt to the city’s needs.

The Stadium is regularly used by the Korean national football team. Since 2015, the football club of Seoul E-Land has played in the stadium. The venue has also welcomed concerts from international artists such as Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga and Coldplay.
