Cui Chenxi of the People's Republic of China finished in first in the women's open qualifier to lead the 29 skaters through to the quarter-finals at WST Lausanne Street 2023 on Thursday (14 September).

The 13-year-old put down a 51.32 score in her second run to close the afternoon's action on top.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist Nakayama Funa, returning to action following an injury to her left collarbone, made herself known with a 50.96 score to qualify in second with fellow Olympian Roos Zwetsloot finishing in third (50.29).

Japan showed its depth of talent once again with five skaters making it through to the quarters, while Brazil similarly flashed its powerhouse status with four of its skaters punching their ticket including Pamela Rosa.

The women's qualifier was originally due to take place on Wednesday (13 September) but was postponed to Thursday due to weather conditions in the Swiss city.

Still yet to enter the contest are the skateboarders who are pre-seeded based on their Olympic World Skate Ranking. The group includes Rayssa Leal, Nishiya Momiji and Oda Yumeka, who will join the wider field later on Thursday in the women's quarter-finals.

Before then the men's quarter-finals will take place.

In addition to the title, Paris 2024 Olympic qualification ranking points are also on the line for skateboarders competing in Lausanne.
