Paris 2024 Olympics India schedule today, August 2: Manu Bhaker begins quest for another medal; Lakshya Sen eyes semi-final spot

India’s star shooter Manu Bhaker will begin her campaign in the women’s 25m pistol shooting event at the Paris 2024 Olympics while badminton player Lakshya Sen and the Indian hockey team will also be in focus on Friday, August 2.

Bhaker, already a two-time medallist at Paris 2024, will look to start her quest for the third medal from the precision rounds at 12:30 PM. Rapid rounds are at 3:30 PM and the women’s 25m pistol final is scheduled at 1:00 PM on Saturday.

Lakshya Sen, the only surviving Indian badminton player at the Olympics, will look to take one step closer to a medal with a win over Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in the men’s singles quarter-finals at 9:05 PM

Sen trails the Chinese Taipei shuttler 3-1 in the head-to-head record but riding on superb form, Sen, ranked 22nd, has already beaten world No. 3 Jonatan Christie and 13th-ranked HS Prannoy en route to the quarter-finals.

The Indian men’s hockey team has already qualified for the quarter-finals but will look to end the group stage with a strong showing against the Tokyo 2020 silver medallists Australia at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium.

Besides badminton, hockey and shooting, India will compete in athletics, archery, sailing, golf, judo and rowing events today.

Athletics will see the Indian national record holders Tajinderpal Singh Toor (men’s shot put) and Parul Chaudhary (women’s 5000m) take on stacked fields in the qualification rounds.

Indian golfers Gaganjeet Bhullar and Shubhankar Sharma and sailors Nethra Kumanan and Vishnu Saravanan will resume their campaign on the second day of their respective competitions.

Meanwhile, judo and archery will see medal events today. Commonwealth Games silver medallist Tulika Maan, the only Indian judoka at Paris 2024, will take on Cuba’s Idalys Ortiz in the women’s +78kg round of 32 contest at 2:12 PM. All matches in the women’s +78kg division, including the final, will be held today.

Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat will vie for medal in the mixed team archery competition. They will start from the round of 16 against Indonesia’s Diananda Choirunisa and Arif Pangestu.
