A seven-member Indian team, including two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics badminton tournament.

Lakshya Sen created history by becoming the first male Indian badminton player to make the semi-finals at the Summer Games. However, he fell one win short of a medal.

Paris 2024 Olympics badminton: Indian team

  • PV Sindhu (women's singles)
  • HS Prannoy (men's singles)
  • Lakshya Sen (men's singles)
  • Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty (men's doubles)
  • Tanisha Crasto/Ashwini Ponnappa (women's doubles)

PV Sindhu, a former world champion, was seeded 10th in the women's singles competition and bowed out in the round of 16. HS Prannoy also made the knockout rounds in men's singles but exited in the pre-quarterfinals after a loss to Lakshya.

Third seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty cruised through the group stage but were halted by Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.

Tanisha Crasto/Ashwini Ponnappa failed to go beyond the group stage in women's doubles. India did not compete in the mixed doubles.

All events began with round-robin group stages before the knockout rounds. In doubles, the top two from each group made the quarter-finals while only the group winners advanced in singles competitions.

A total of 172 top shuttlers from around the world were in action at the La Chapelle Arena during Paris 2024.

Since the sport made its Olympic debut at Barcelona 1992, India have won three medals in badminton courtesy PV Sindhu (silver at Rio 2016 and bronze at Tokyo 2020) and Saina Nehwal (bronze at London 2012). All three have come in women’s singles.
