Paris 2024 Olympics athletics: India’s results, times, marks and medals - full list

A 29-member Indian athletics team, headlined by Neeraj Chopra, competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics from August 1 to 9. Athletics kicked off on August 1 with race walking, the track and field events began on August 2.

Athletics at the Olympics included 48 medal events in all. They were held across four venues: Pont d'Iéna for race walking, Hôtel de Ville and Les Invalides for the start and end points of the marathon races and Stade de France for the track and field events.

Chopra, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, won silver in the men’s javelin throw for India’s only medal in athletics at Paris 2024.

Meanwhile, Asian Games champion Avinash Sable was the only Indian athlete besides Neeraj Chopra to make the finals in the track and field events at the Paris 2024 Olympics from qualifying rounds. Sable finished 11th in the men’s 3000m steeplechase final.

India’s Paris 2024 team consisted of eight athletes who also competed at Tokyo 2020. Besides Neeraj Chopra and Avinash Sable, Annu Rani, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Priyanka Goswami, Muhammed Anas, Amoj Jacob and Subha Venkatesan represented India at the Olympics three years ago.

Among noteworthy changes to the athletics programme at Paris 2024, the marathon race walk relay mixed event replaced the men's 50km race walk event from Tokyo 2020. However, India’s Suraj Panwar and Priyanka Goswami registered a DNF (did not finish) on India’s marathon race walk relay mixed event debut.

Paris 2024 also saw repechage rounds introduced in select athletics events.
