Olympic sport climbing champion Janja Garnbret continued her dominance on the IFSC World Cup circuit, topping the women’s Lead qualification in Chamonix, France on Saturday (9 July).

Slovenian Garnbret, who took gold in Villars, led the star-studded pack of qualifiers that included USA duo of Natalia Grossman and Brooke Raboutou, Korean Chaehyun Seo and Bulgaria’s Alksandra Totkova.

The climbing sensation is targeting her 51st World cup medal in France, with Sunday's semi-finals and finals still to come.

Last year's winner in Chamonix, Sean Bailey, finished in top spot in the men’s qualification round.

The American was in a 10-man group that included Japan’s Homma Taisei, who won the Lead at the World Cup in Villar last weekend.

But Bailey was supreme in Chamonix, and is the early favourite ahead of Sunday’s semi-final.

Besides the Lead qualifications and finals this weekend, there is also Speed finals in Chamonix and the Paraclimbing finals in Villars, Switzerland.
