Loh Kean Yew's wait for a first badminton title since his 2021 World Championship win continues after he was beaten in the final of the 2024 Thailand Masters on Sunday (4 February).

The Singaporean second seed was facing Chou Tien-Chen of Chinese Taipei in Bangkok, with both men formerly ranked in the world top three but now outside the top 10.

Chou took the advantage in a tight first game with two crucial runs of points from 13-12 up to 18-12, then again from 18-16 to 21-16.

However, the fifth seed lost his way completely in the second with Loh taking it 21-6 to force the decider.

The two men were level at 8-8 in the third, but Chou gradually pulled away to seal the win 21-16, 6-21, 21-16.

It moves the Chinese Taipei shuttler to 4-3 in career head-to-head meetings against Loh.

The next major event for both men will be the Badminton Asia Team Championships in Shah Alam, Malaysia, this month.
