Five medals, thrilling finals and historic moments - India’s seventh day at the Asian Games 2023 scripted a wonderful story on Saturday. The Indian contingent has won 38 medals (10 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze) so far.

Sarabjot Singh and Divya TS opened today’s medal rush with a 10m air pistol mixed team silver, extending the best-ever shooting haul, in Hangzhou.

India and Pakistan produced a memorable men’s squash team final as Abhay Singh came back from conceding two match points to winning the gold medal. Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale won the mixed doubles tennis gold, India’s third in Asian Games history in the event.

Meanwhile, Karthik Kumar won silver and Gulveer Singh settled for bronze in the men’s 10,000m race. Long jumpers Murali Sreeshankar and Jeswin Aldrin alongside hurdler Jyothi Yarraji also advanced to the finals in athletics.

The second India vs Pakistan clash was in men’s hockey where Harmanpreet Singh smashed four goals in an emphatic 10-2 victory to keep the Indian hockey team at the top of the points table.

Led by Kidambi Srikanth, the Indian men’s badminton team beat the Republic of Korea to set up its first-ever gold medal match. History also beckoned for Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee as they became the first Indian women’s doubles table tennis pair to secure a medal at the Asian Games.

Lovlina Borgohain opened her Hangzhou campaign with a win in the quarter-final, making her the fourth Indian boxer with an assured medal this edition. Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, on the other hand, got injured and failed to bag her first medal at the continental meet.

Golfer Aditi Ashok surged to the top of the women’s leaderboard with one round to go. Niraj Verma (C1 500m), C2 500m and K2 500m teams also raced to make the gold medal event at Hangzhou.

Hockey: India beat Pakistan 10-2 in men's Pool A match

The Indian men's hockey juggernaut at the Asian Games 2023 continued in style with a resounding 10-2 win against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Pool A match. India retained the top spot in the group, winning all four matches so far. 

Captain Harmanpreet Singh was at the fore, netting four goals - two from penalty corners and two from the penalty spot. Varun Kumar also scored a brace while Mandeep Singh, Sumit, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay and Shamsher Singh also got on the scoresheet. Click here to re-live the Indian victory.

India have scored a whopping 46 goals and conceded only five in the group stage. They will take on Bangladesh in the final Pool A match at Hangzhou on Monday, October 2 at 1:15 PM IST.

Badminton: India advance to men's team final

The Indian men's badminton team beat the Republic of Korea 3-2 in the semi-final, making their first-ever Asian Games gold medal match. Kidambi Srikanth, Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy won their singles matches while both doubles pairs lost in the final.

India will go up against China in the men's team final tomorrow at 2:30 PM IST at the Asian Games 2023. Regardless of the result, the Indian men's team will grab their first gold or silver medal at the continental meet.

Chess: Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa held to draw in men's team round 2 game

Indian chess player Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, the 2023 World Cup runner-up, shared the points with Asian Games 2023 bronze medallist Javokhir Sindarov in the men's team event at Hangzhou. In fact, all four India vs Uzbekistan games ended in a draw as the teams shared 2.0 points, each.

On the other hand, Vaishali Rameshbabu beat Vo Thi Kim Phung as India won 2.5-1.5 against Vietnam in the women's team event. Koneru Humpy, Vantika Agrawal and Savitha Shri Baskar also drew their games.

Bridge: Men's team continue top spot challenge

The Indian men's bridge team are ranked second after 196 boards with 205.98 points. India beat Pakistan and the Philippines while losing to Bangladesh and Thailand in the men's team event.

Meanwhile, in the women's team event, India are seventh with 69.1 points in 140 boards. They lost to Hong Kong China and China but beat Indonesia in their third match today.

After a losing start for the Indian mixed team against Japan, three wins on the bounce helped them to 178.62 points at Hangzhou after 182 boards.

Athletics: Nandini Agasara fastest in heptathlon 200m heats

India's Nandini Agasara clocked 24.47 seconds, a personal best time, to top the timesheet in the 200m heats of the women's heptathlon event at the Asian Games 2023. A 936 points haul in the round took her fourth in the overall standings with 3328 points, 25 shy of a podium position.

Swapna Barman, on the other hand, finished ninth with a time of 26.16, adding 783 points to her tally. However, she moved down to sixth position in the standings with three events left to be played.

Women's heptathlon will head to its final day tomorrow with long jump, javelin throw and an 800m race. The Indian duo will be in action from 6:30 AM IST on Sunday.

Boxing: Nishant Dev knocked out in the quarters

Indian boxer Nishant Dev lost 5:0 on points against Japan's Sewonrets Quincy Mensah Okazawa in the men's 71kg quarter-final at the Asian Games 2023. 

The judges ruled in favour of the Japanese boxer in the first two rounds. Nishant Dev, the reigning world championship bronze medallist, fought back valiantly in the final round. However, the overall scores remained in favour of the former world champion Sewonrets Quincy Mensah Okazawa.

Weightlifting: Bindyarani Devi fifth in women's 55kg final

Indian weightlifter Bindyarani Devi scored 196 points to rank fifth in the women's 55kg final at the Asian Games 2023. The 24-year-old lifted 83kg in the snatch round while lifting 113kg in the clean and jerk round, both in her third attempts. It ended India's weightlifting campaign at Hangzhou.

Meanwhile, DPR Korea's Hyongyong Kang shattered the snatch as well as clean and jerk world records en route to winning the gold medal. Compatriot Suyon Ri won the silver medal while China's Zhihui Hou claimed the bronze.

Athletics: Silver and bronze in men's 10000m final

Indian runners Kartik Kumar and Gulveer Singh clocked personal best times to ensure a double podium for India in the men's 10000m final at the Asian Games 2023. Kartik Kumar was timed at 28:15.38 to win the silver medal while Gulveer Singh settled for bronze with a time of 28:17.21.

Bahrain's Birhanu Yemataw Balew clinched the gold medal, clocking 28:13.62 in the final.

Badminton: India vs Republic of Korea semis tie heads into final match

The Indian men's badminton team are level 2-2 against the Republic of Korea in the semi-final at the Asian Games 2023. HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen won the singles matches while Satwiksairaj Rankireddy / Chirag Shetty and Arjun Madathil Ramachandran / Dhruv Kapila lost their doubles matches.

In the semi-final-deciding match, Kidambi Srikanth will take on Geonyeop Cho at Hangzhou. India have never won a gold or silver in the men's team event in Asian Games history. A win, however, will assure the Indian team at least a silver in the 19th Asian Games.

Hockey: India vs Pakistan men's Pool A match kicks off

The India vs Pakistan men's hockey Pool A match has begun at Hangzhou. It is the 16th meeting between the arch-rivals at the Asian Games with Pakistan leading the head-to-head record 8-4. Captain Harmanpreet Singh starts while Krishan Bahadur Pathak is in goal for India.

ICYMI: Indian men's squash team bagged gold medal

The India vs Pakistan men's team squash final lived up to its hype as Saurav Ghosal and Co. won the gold medal in an enthralling encounter. Indian squash player Abhay Singh, down two match points, came back to win and secure a 2-1 victory.

Weightlifting: Mirabai Chanu fails to win medal at Hangzhou

Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu finished fourth in the women's 49kg weightlifting final at the Asian Games 2023. The 29-year-old Indian weightlifter registered best lifts of 83kg in snatch and 108kg in clean and jerk to achieve a combined score of 191.

Meanwhile, Songgum Ri from the People's Republic of Korea finished atop the Hangzhou podium, winning back-to-back gold medals at the Asian Games. The 25-year-old weightlifter scored an Asian record 214 points combined, while she broke the clean and jerk world record with a 122kg lift.

China's Jiang Huihua bagged silver with a 213kg combined lift and Thailand's Thanyathon Sukcharoen settled for bronze in the women's 49kg weightlifting final.

Diving: India finish sixth in men's synchronised 3m springboard final

Indian divers London Singh Hemam and Siddharth Bajrang Pardeshi finished sixth, scoring 279.87 points, in the men's synchronised 3m springboard final at the Asian Games 2023. 

The Chinese pair Yan Siyu and He Chao clinched the gold medal with 422.55 points. Meanwhile, the Republic of Korea (393.00) won silver and Malaysia (380.22) settled for bronze at Hangzhou.

Athletics: Aishwarya Mishra finishes fourth in women's 400m final

Indian athlete Aishwarya Mishra clocked 53.50 seconds in the women's 400m final to finish fourth at the Asian Games 2023. The 26-year-old sprinter was 0.92 seconds shy of a bronze medal in the event.

Bahrain's Oluwakemi Mujidat Adekoya and Salwa Eid Naser won gold and silver, respectively, while Malaysian sprinter Vallabouy Shereen Samson settled for bronze. 

Meanwhile, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi was ranked fifth after the men's 400m final with a time of 45.97 seconds, just shy of his personal best of 45.36 seconds.

Table tennis: First-ever women's doubles medal confirmed

Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee assured India's maiden women's doubles table tennis medal in Asian Games history at Hangzhou. The eighth-seeded Indian pair won 11-5, 11-5, 5-11, 11-9 against reigning world champions Chen Meng and Wang Yidi in today's quarter-final.

It is only the third Asian Games medal for India. The men's team and mixed doubles - Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra - won bronze in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.

Surtirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee will go up against DPR Korea's Suyong Cha and Sugyong Pak in the women's doubles table tennis semi-final at the Asian Games 2023.

Athletics: Swapna Barman stays fourth in women's heptathlon standings

Indian athletes Swapna Barman and Nandini Agasara finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in the shot put round of the women's heptathlon at the Asian Games 2023. Swapna Barman remains fourth in the overall standing with 2529 points, with 679 points scored in shot put. Nandini Agasara dropped down to eighth overall with 2392 points.

The 200m race is the next women's heptathlon event, which starts at 6:35 PM IST today.

Badminton: Satwik-Chirag lose in men's team semis, tie level at 1-1

The India vs Republic of Korea men's team badminton semi-final is level 1-1 after two matches at the Asian Games 2023.

The world championships bronze medallist HS Prannoy won 18-21, 21-16, 21-19 against Hyeokjin Jeon. After going a game down, the world No. 7 Prannoy stepped up to win two close games against Hyeokjin, ranked 47th in men's singles, giving India a 1-0 lead.

However, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, world No. 3 in men's doubles, lost 21-13, 26-24 to Seungjae Seo and Minhyuk Kang, ranked fourth in the world, in the second match of the semi-final tie at Hangzhou.

Now, Lakshya Sen will take on Yungyu Lee in the third match.

Squash: Indian men's team clinch gold medal

The Indian men's squash team beat Pakistan 2-1 in the final at Hangzhou to secure their second Asian Games gold medal.

While Mahesh Mangaonkar was defeated in the first match, Saurav Ghosal levelled the scores for India in the second. However, in a 65-minute thriller, the 25-year-old Abhay Singh beat Pakistan's Noor Zaman, 19, after five games. Abhay was down two championship points but the Indian squash player held his nerve to save the points and win the final game 12-10.

India continued their record of a men's squash team medal in every edition since 2010 Guangzhou. The Indian women's squash team, meanwhile, also won the bronze medal at the Asian Games 2023.

Basketball: Women's 3x3 basketball team ousted in quarters

The Indian women's 3x3 basketball team lost 21-10 against Chinese Taipei, who remain unbeaten at Hangzhou, in the women's 3x3 basketball quarter-final today. Vaishnavi Yadav scored seven points, the most by an Indian player, again. However, the Chinese Taipei team's attacking prowess proved a task too difficult to handle for India.

Earlier today, India won 16-6 against Malaysia in the pre-quarterfinal. Vaishnavi Yadav, the 21-year-old Indian player, was the top-scorer with nine points. All four Indian players scored at least one point.

Golf: Anirban Lahiri and Co. falter in men's round 3

The Indian men's golf team, headlined by Anirban Lahiri, slipped down two positions after the third round at Hangzhou 2023. India are now eighth with a score of 626, -32 to par, in the team event with one round to go.

Meanwhile, Anirban Lahiri scored two-over in round 3 as he dropped down to T17 in the men's individual standings. SSP Chawrasia (T20), Khalin Joshi (T24) and Shubhankar Sharma (T34) are also far away from the golf podium positions at the Asian Games 2023.

Boxing: Narender Berwal through to men's +92kg semis

Indian boxer Narender Berwal secured a 5:0 win on points against Iman Ramezanpourdelavar of IR Iran in the Men's +92kg quarter-final at the Asian Games 2023. While the judges ruled in favour of the Iranian boxer in the first round, Narender was the dominant pugilist in the other two.

Narender Berwal followed Nikhat Zareen, Preeti Pawar and Lovlina Borgohain to an assured boxing medal at Hangzhou. The 28-year-old Indian boxer is also one win away from securing an Olympic quota for India.

Squash: Saurav Ghosal levels India vs Pakistan men's gold medal tie

Saurav Ghosal won 11-5, 11-1, 11-3 against Muhammad Asim Khan in the second match of the India vs Pakistan men's squash gold medal tie at the Asian Games 2023.

In the first match, Mahesh Mangaonkar lost in straight games against Nasir Iqbal. After a competitive first game, which Mangaonkar 11-8, Nasir won the next two 11-3, 11-2 to give Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the tie.

Indian squash player Abhay Singh, now, takes on Pakistan's Noor Zaman in the third match. The victor will clinch a gold medal for his team in the final.

Strategy, training and recovery - Neeraj Chopra opines on his Asian Games 2023 preparations

Canoe sprint: India through to C1 500m, C2 500m and K2 500m finals

India's Niraj Verma clocked 4:31.626 to finish first in the men's canoe single 1000m semi-final and stormed into the final. Binita Chanu Oinam and Parvathy Geetha also raced into the women's kayak double 500m final with a time of 2:07.036 in the semi-final. The Indian men's canoe double 500m team also went through to the final, courtesy of a third-place, clocking 1:57.225, finish in the semi-final.

The gold medal races at the Asian Games 2023 will be contested on Monday, October 2, starting from 7:40 AM IST.

Handball: Indian women's team seal dominant win against Nepal

The Indian women's handball team beat Nepal 44-19 in the Group B encounter at the Asian Games 2023. Nidhi Sharma smashed 11 goals while Mitali Sharma also netted seven. India scored 75.86 per cent of their shots in the match.

However, India failed to break into the top two of the Group B standings and did not make the semi-final at Hangzhou.

Tennis: Bopanna-Bhosale clinch mixed doubles gold

Indian mixed doubles pair Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale won 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 against Chinese Taipei's Tsung-hao Huang and En-shuo Liang in the final to bag the gold medal at the Asian Games 2023. 

Chinese Taipei stormed off the blocks to win the first set. However, the Indian duo bounced back, matching their opponent's intensity, to win the second. In the 10-point-tie-breaker, Bopanna and Bhosale surged to a 6-1 lead and controlled the game in the final moments. 

The Indian contingent has now won seven mixed doubles medals - three gold, silver and bronze, each - in Asian Games history. Meanwhile, it is the first mixed doubles Asian Games medal for Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale.

Table tennis: Manika Batra loses singles quarters

Indian paddler Manika Batra was defeated 4-2 by Chinese player Yidi Wang in the women's singles quarter-final at Hangzhou 2023. Yidi Wang, a World Championship bronze medallist, won the first, third, fourth and sixth games while the 28-year-old Manika Batra fought back in the second and fifth games.

It marked the end of India's table tennis singles campaign. Indian paddlers are yet to win an individual medal in Asian Games history.

Boxing: Lovlina Borgohain wins quarters bout, assured medal

Olympic bronze medallist and reigning world champion Lovlina Borgohain beat Suyeon Seong 5:0 on points in the women's 75kg quarter-final at the Asian Games 2023. The 26-year-old Indian boxer showcased a dominant performance, registering a perfect score in the bout.

Lovlina Borgohain is assured her first Asian Games medal at Hangzhou while she can secure India an Olympic quota at Paris 2024 in the women's 75kg weight category with a semi-final win. Fellow boxers Preeti Pawar and Nikhat Zareen are also assured medals at the 19th Asian Games.

NOCs have exclusive authority for the representation of their respective NOC teams at the Olympic Games. Athletes' participation at the Paris Games will depend on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Paris 2024.

Borgohain will take on Thai boxer Baison Maneekon, an Asian Championship silver medallist, in the semi-final on Tuesday, October 3 at 12:00 PM IST.

Meanwhile, Sachin Siwach received a walkover in the men's 57kg round of 16 at Hangzhou. He will go up against Pakistan's Muhammad Qasim or China's Lyu Ping in the quarter-final on Tuesday, October 3 at 5:15 PM IST.

Shooting: Men's and women's trap teams in medal contention after stage 1

Indian shooters were in action in stage 1 of the men's and women's trap teams and individual events at Hangzhou 2023.

Kynan Chenai finished second with 73 points while the Indian men's trap team also ranks second. The Indian women's trap team, meanwhile, is third with 195 points and Preeti Rajak, with 69 points, is fifth in the individual standings.

The second stage of the shooting trap events will begin tomorrow at 6:30 AM IST. The top three teams in each category will bag medals while the top six men's and women's shooters will make the individual finals.

Boxing: Preeti Pawar assured medal, earns Olympic quota

Indian boxer Preeti Pawar beat Kazakhstan's Zhaina Shekerbekova 4:1 on points in the women's 54kg quarter-final at the Asian Games 2023. The victory assured India another medal at Hangzhou while it also confirmed an Olympic quota for Paris 2024.

Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain (women's 75kg) can also achieve the same feat by beating the Republic of Korea's Suyeon Seong at 12:15 PM IST today.

Basketball: Men's 3x3 team ends campaign after defeat vs IR Iran

The Indian men's 3x3 basketball team lost 19-17 against the Islamic Republic of Iran in the qualification to quarter-final round at Hangzhou 2023. India's Princepal Singh top-scored with nine points while Sahaji Pratap Singh Sekhon notched seven points in the match. 

India had beaten Malaysia and Macao China before a defeat against China in Pool C.

Table tennis: Manav Thakkar-Manush Shah ousted in quarters

Indian men's table tennis pair Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah were knocked out in the quarter-final after a 3-2 defeat versus top seeds Woojin Jang and Jonghoon Lim at the Asian Games 2023. 

The 23-year-old Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah, 22, lost the first and third games but bounced back on both occasions. While they also led 9-6 in the final game, the Republic of Korea pair made a comeback of their own to make the semi-final.

Manika Batra, meanwhile, can assure India's first singles table tennis medal at the continental meet if she wins against China's Yidi Wang in the quarter-final today.

Not in hurry to break 90m mark, believe in my process: Neeraj Chopra

Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra will contest the men's javelin throw final on Wednesday, October 4 at 4:35 PM IST. The 25-year-old recently finished second in the Diamond League 2023 final at Eugene.

Neeraj Chopra's best throw, so far, is 89.94m, achieved at the Stockholm Diamond League in Sweden on June 30, 2022. It is the national record too. Click here to get a list of Neeraj Chopra’s best throws to date.

Volleyball: DPR Korea beat India in women's team opener

The Indian women's volleyball team lost 98-80 against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the Pool A match at the Asian Games 2023. While India won the first set 25-23, DPR Korea bounced back to win three sets in a row. 

Soorya topped the scoring charts for India with 18 points. DPR Korea's Hyonju Kim smashed 30 points, leading her team to victory.

India will go up against China in the second women's volleyball match tomorrow at 4:30 PM IST.

Shooting: India win 10m air pistol mixed team silver

Indian shooters Sarabjot Singh and Divya TS shot a score of 14 in the 10m air pistol mixed team final to clinch the silver medal at the Asian Games 2023. It is the eighth silver in the sport, making it 19 shooting medals at Hangzhou. China, meanwhile, bagged the gold medal.

Divya TS took home her second silver medal in this edition while Sarabjot Singh has won one gold and one silver. India have eight gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze medals at the 19th Asian Games, so far, ranking fourth in the overall medal tally.

Athletics: Swapna Barman ranked fourth after two events in heptathlon

Indian athlete Swapna Barman finished fourth in the women's heptathlon high jump event after a 1.70m successful leap. The 26-year-old, who scored 995 points in the 100m hurdles earlier today, added 855 points to take her tally to 1850 and rank fourth after two rounds.

Nandini Agasara, seventh in the standings, scored 977 and 747 points after the first two events. Shot put is the next women's heptathlon event at the Asian Games 2023, starting at 4:40 PM IST today.

Equestrian: Ashish Limaye atop eventing dressage individual standings

The 29-year-old Ashish Limaye, riding horse Willy Be Dun, registered 26.90 penalty points in the eventing dressage individual event at Hangzhou 2023. While Ashish Limaye topped the charts, Apurva Dabhade (29.60) was ranked eighth and Vikas Kumar (32.40) finished 16th. The lower the penalty points, the higher the rank in this equestrian event.

India, meanwhile, are ranked third with 88.90 penalty points in the team event. China (85.20) are first and Hong Kong China (86.80) are second in the eventing dressage team standings.

Kurash: Pincky Balhara ousted in quarters

India's Pincky Balhara went down to Uzbekistan's Sitora Elmurodova in the women's -52kg kurash quarter-final at the Asian Games 2023. An Asian Championships bronze medallist, the 24-year-old Pincky had beaten Ayshirin Haydarova and Ye Joo Lee in the round of 32 and round of 16 bouts, respectively.

Meanwhile, Keshav (men's -66kg) and Suchika Tariyal (women's -52kg) lost their opening bouts at Hangzhou today.

Canoe sprint: Niraj Verma, women's K2 500m, men's C2 500m teams make semis

Canoeing events at the Asian Games 2023 began today. Niraj Verma, the first Indian in action, was timed at 4:25.162 in the men's canoe single 1000m heats. The 19-year-old finished sixth in heat 1 to progress into the semi-final, which begins at 12:45 PM IST today.

Niraj Verma was a part of the men's C4 500m team that ranked eighth in the World Championships in Germany earlier this year.

The Indian women's K2 500m, featuring Binita Chanu Oinam and Parvathy Geetha, finished fourth in heat 2 with a time of 2:06.956. They advanced to the semi-final, which begins at 1:00 PM IST today.

In the men's canoe double 500m heats, India clocked 1:54.829 to finish fourth in heat 1 and make the semi-final. Ribason Singh Ningthoujam and Gyaneshwor Singh Philem will feature in the semi-final today at 1:16 PM IST.

Roller skating: Anandkumar Velkumar misses out on speed skating medal

Indian roller skater Anandkumar Velkumar clocked 15:40.978 in the men's speed skating 10000m point-elimination race at Hangzhou. The 20-year-old scored four points, seven short of a podium finish, to rank sixth. Siddhant Kamble also scored four points but finished sixth with a time of 15:57.944.

Velkumar and Kamble will be in focus in the men's speed skating 3000m relay final on Monday, October 2.

Athletics: Murali Sreeshankar through to long jump final

The 24-year-old Indian athlete Murali Sreeshankar jumped 7.97m in the men's long jump qualification round to make the final. The Asian Championships silver medallist will feature tomorrow in the final at 4:40 PM IST at the Asian Games 2023.

Jeswin Aldrin, too, is through to the men's long jump final after ranking sixth overall with a best of 7.67m.

Meanwhile, Ajay Kumar Saroj ranked second in heat 1 while Jinson Johnson ranked fifth in heat 2 to advance into the men's 1500m final, starting at 6:00 PM IST tomorrow.

Shooting: Indian 10m air pistol team advance to gold medal match

Sarabjot Singh and Divya TS scored 577 points in the 10m air pistol mixed team shooting qualification round at the Asian Games 2023. The Indian shooters were the top qualifiers and will take on China's Zhang Bowen and Jiang Ranxin in the gold medal match at 9:05 AM IST today.

Both shooters will eye their second medal at Hangzhou. Sarabjot Singh clinched the men's 10m air pistol team gold while Divya TS won the 10m air pistol team silver.

Athletics: Jyothi Yarraji makes women's 100m hurdles final

Jyothi Yarraji, an Asian champion, clocked 13.03 seconds in the women's 100m heats at the 19th Asian Games. The 24-year-old hurdler qualified second in her heat, third overall, for the final, which will contested tomorrow at 6:45 PM IST. Nithya Ramraj also made the final after a 13.30 seconds finish in the heats.

Indian athlete Swapna Barman registered her personal best time of 13.88 seconds in the 100m hurdles heat of the women's heptathlon event of the Asian Games 2023. She was ranked second overall after the hurdles, behind China's Zheng Ninali.

Nandini Agasara, meanwhile, was fourth overall in the 100m hurdles heat with a time of 14.01 seconds.

The duo will be back in action in the women's heptathlon high jump in Hangzhou at 7:20 AM IST.

Roller skating: Aarathy Kasturi Raj fifth in speed skating final

Indian roller skater Aarathy Kasturi Raj scored three points while finishing fifth in the women's speed skating 10000m point-elimination race at the Asian Games 2023. The 29-year-old clocked 17:41.159 at Hangzhou.

Heeral Sadhu, 17, was ranked seventh in the same event. The Indian roller skating pair will race in the women's speed skating 3000m relay, a medal event, on October 2 at 7:00 AM IST.

Golf and equestrian kick off the day; shooting, athletics and weightlifting follow

Golfer Aditi Ashok started India’s day. Equestrian too kicked off with the dressage team and individual events.

Shooting, meanwhile, begins at 6:30 AM IST. Murali Sreeshankar, Jeswin Aldrin and Jyothi Yarraji in athletics will compete concurrently. Weightlifters Mirabai Chanu and Bindyarani Devi will feature from 7:30 AM IST onwards.

Roller skating, volleyball, kurash and canoe events are also on the early agenda.

The India vs Pakistan men’s hockey match also takes centre stage today in their 16th meeting in Asian Games history. The winners will go atop the Pool A points table at Hangzhou.

Roller skating and diving medal events are on the agenda too. Indian athletes will also compete in golf, equestrian, table tennis and basketball. Canoeing, kurash and roller skating, meanwhile, will kick off today.
