Marseille Marina

MAM_1_Marina-de-Marseille_Paris2024--scaled

For the sailing events of Paris 2024, the Games will head to the Mediterranean. Through its location, the city of Marseille is naturally focused on the sea and thus provides exceptional sailing conditions. Thanks to Marseille’s internationally renowned expertise in hosting and organising boat-related events, the city and its Marina offer an ideal venue for sailing competitions with the Paris 2024 Games.

For the Games, the Roucas-Blanc Marina, a point of departure for boats, will be adapted for staging a competition on the scale of the Olympic Games. The programme includes plans for around 7,000 sqm of buildings and the reorganisation of 17,000 sqm of outdoor spaces, as well as the redevelopment of the basin itself, transforming it into an outstanding competition venue.

The existing site’s strong potential, with its exceptional exposure to Marseille’s La Corniche, will enable the thousands of spectators who make the trip in 2024 to follow the events up close. The quality of the water conditions off the coast of Marseille, with relatively constant winds and a coastal configuration that is correctly oriented in relation to the dominant winds, without any currents or tides, will ensure ideal tactical and strategic conditions for the competitors.

The city of Marseille will also be hosting some of the Olympic football matches at the Stade Vélodrome.

Legacy

With the rescaling work conducted before and after the Games, the Roucas Blanc Nautical Stadium will offer ideal training conditions for athletes from France’s Marseille sailing hub, as well as training facilities that have been completely rethought for people with all skill levels.
