USWNT star Alex Morgan launches new foundation in San Diego
From World Cup titles to equal pay disputes, Alex Morgan’s career has inspired action across the globe, and as she unveils her new foundation, she hopes to continue supporting women and girls in football.
World football star Alex Morgan is known for inspiring change on and off the field.
If she’s not leading her club or country to victory, she’s pushing and campaigning for women’s rights and equality in sports.
Morgan is no stranger to making her voice heard and, alongside her USWNT teammates, has powered impactful change across the world of women’s sports.
Now, she plans to give back to her community once again as she launches a new foundation in San Diego’s South Bay.
The Alex Morgan Foundation will provide support, empowerment and an example for young girls and mothers in the local area and beyond.
From creating equity in sport, to creating opportunities for young girls and providing support to mothers, the foundation aims to leave a positive impact on the lives of women and girls across the world.
Alex Morgan: Her impressive stats on the field
When it comes to women’s football, Alex Morgan is a household name.
From her World Cup and Olympic medals with the USWNT, to her U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year awards and her several domestic titles, the 33-year-old has cemented herself in football history.
Despite some career-defining injuries, Morgan has always proved herself as an asset to any team she plays within.
With a total of 121 international goals from 204 appearances so far, she sits in fifth within the USWNT top scorers. She’s also racked up 75 goals from her club career to date, as well as 45 goals from 67 appearances throughout her college career.
But it’s not just her goal scoring ability that has forged her impressive playing career.
Her athleticism, speed and physicality prove difficult for opponents to silence, and her ability to lead and instill unwavering confidence within her team has helped inspire wins on the global stage.
Alex Morgan: Advocate for equality
Away from the field, Morgan has made her passion for equality and empowerment heard.
Alongside her USWNT teammates, Alex Morgan led the push for their equal pay dispute where a landmark $24 million dollar settlement was reached ensuring that US Soccer would pay both female and male teams equally.
The 33-year-old recently asked clubs to provide the 'bare minimum' conditions for their players, after Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir’s revelation of her treatment either side of giving birth to her son while at Olympique Lyonnais (OL).
Morgan helped uncover the widespread abuse in the NWSL when she helped her former teammate Mana Shim file a sexual harassment complaint against their then-coach.
She has also previously spoken out in support of trans players and rights, is an ambassador for UNICEF and supports the ASPCA. Alongside this, she co-founded the women-focused sports media company, Togethxr, to raise awareness of underrepresented women in sports.
Morgan is no stranger to using her platform for the greater good, and continually uses her voice for others who are struggling to be heard.

Her career thus far has paved the way for countless women in sports, with many huge names citing the 33 year old as their inspiration.
As she begins to near the end of her incredible playing career, there is no doubt that Morgan will continue to use her platform for the good of the sport whilst creating a safe space for both girls and women to develop and live.
“Throughout my career, I’ve fought for equal pay and safe, supportive work environments in women’s soccer to inspire chance on a systemic level. Now, I’m excited to keep fighting on behalf of girls and women as we launch the Alex Morgan Foundation.” Morgan wrote in a social media post.
With the Alex Morgan Foundation being built upon the core pillars of sports equity, empowering girls and supporting mothers, it’s evident that the World Cup and Olympic Gold winner will continue to assist women worldwide, long after her glittering on-pitch career is over.
