Olympic champion Janja Garnbret heads the top 26 women into the semi-finals of the lead competition at the 2022 European sport climbing championships in Munich, Germany.
In front of a noisy crowd in the central venue of Konigsplatz on Thursday (11 August), the Slovenian climber made an impressive start to her bid for a first European medal since 2017.
Meanwhile Olympian Mickael Mawem and bronze medallist Jakob Schubert made it safely through the men's boulder competition qualifying.
The women's lead and men's boulder competitions will continue on Saturday 13 August, when the semi-finals and final take place.
Women's lead qualifying
Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Garnbret topped route A (57) and also led the scores on route B (43.1) to claim 1.41 points.
The 23-year-old was followed by fellow Slovenian Mia Krampl (2.00) in second place with Jessica Pilz of Austria in third (4.47).

Men's boulder qualifying

Cornu managed four tops and four zones, finishing in front of Mickael Mawem of France, who had four tops and four zones too but needed two more attempts. Olympic bronze medallist Jakob Schubert of Austria was the third highest-ranked in group B with three tops and five zones.
"I felt very well this morning. I just came back from and I wasn't sure if I could make it for the Euros, so I'm very happy" Cornu said.
"The venue is really nice and it's not common to have so many people for a qualification."
In group A Uznik finished with three tops and five zones. Slovenia's Jernej Kruder was second with Germany's Christoph Schweiger in third.
The top 10 climbers of each group advanced to the semi-finals. Full results are here.
