Park skateboarding star Sky Brown is out of the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) in Shanghai (16-19 May) as she is recovring from a MCL tear in her knee according to NBC.
"Every injury I've had, I've come back stronger," the 15-year-old said to NBC. "So ths is just my time to really think about what I want to do next. It really puts a fire in my heart, and yeah, it happens, it is part of life."
The Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist is expected to return to competition at the second OQS stop in Budapest, Hungary on 20-23 June.
Brown last competed at a World Skate event in May 2023 after skipping the last phase one qualifier in Dubai to compete in the ISA Surfing Games 2024 and, before that, the Park World Championships in Rome due to injury.
The British skater is currently ranked number three in the Olympic World Skate Rankings behind Japanese skaters Hiraki Cocona and Kusaki Hinano.
Her big goal this season is to medal again at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
"Since the [last] Olympics, I've won very event and I don't want to lose that streak," Brown said to NBC. "So I'm going to keep going to try to get gold in every event, especially the Olympics."
