Australia's Arisa Trew topped qualification in the Women's Open qualifiers at the 2022 Skateboarding Park World Championships in 2023 on Wednesday (8 February).

The 12-year-old from the Gold Coast, second on the startlist, put down a McTwist in her second run to score 79.83 which was the best of the day.

Behind her in second place was the United States' Minna Stess. The 16-year-old from California was one of eight Americans to make the cut, including Tokyo 2020 Olympians Bryce Wettstein and Jordyn Barratt.

Five Brazilians also made it through to Friday's quarter-finals with Tokyo 2020 Olympians Yndiara Asp and Dora Varella finishing in sixth and 19th respectively.

In all, 61 park skaters took on the heat and the Aljada Skatepark bowl to try and book their place in the next round but only 28 could advance to the quarters.

Still to enter the competition are the skateboarders that were pre-seeded based on their Olympic World Skate Ranking. The group, made up of Yosozumi Sakura, Sky Brown, Poppy Olsen and Hiraki Kokona, will join the action on Friday.

In addition to the world title, ranking points for Paris 2024 Olympic qualification are also on the line for skateboarders competing in Sharjah.

The competition will continue tomorrow with the Men's Open qualifiers beginning at 09:15 local time (UTC +4).
