Canada's Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, the legendary ice dance duo, are set to be added to their nation's Sports Hall of Fame, the organisation announced Thursday (7 September 2023).

The induction ceremony is set for 19 October where Virtue and Moir will be joined by fellow inductees including the curling team led by Randy Ferbey, wheelchair basketball player Danielle Peers and softball player Phyllis Bomberry.

The duo began skating together in 1997 and would compete for more than two decades. They first struck Olympic gold on home ice at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Four years later at Sochi 2014, they captured ice dance and figure skating team silver medals.

In their final Olympic appearance, Virtue and Moir were golden twice more at PyeongChang 2018, taking ice dance gold in addition to helping Team Canada claim the Olympic title in the team event.

At the World Championships, they collected seven medals including golds in 2010, 2012 and 2017.

Virtue and Moir are no strangers to these kinds of honours, having been awarded the Order of Canada in 2020 for their accomplishments in the sport.
