Malaysia Open 2025 badminton: Lakshya Sen to play; HS Prannoy returns - where to watch live

India’s HS Prannoy will mark his return to court for the first time since the Paris 2024 Olympics at the Malaysia Open 2025 badminton tournament, which begins at the Stadium Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

Badminton matches from the Malaysia Open 2025, a BWF Super 1000 tournament, will be available on live streaming and telecast in India.

HS Prannoy, 26th in the men’s singles world badminton rankings, has not been in action since his round of 16 exit at the hands of compatriot Lakshya Sen at the Paris Olympics.

Lakshya Sen, world No. 12, is also participating in the Malaysia Open 2025 tournament.

A semi-finalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Lakshya Sen won the Syed Modi International in December. He last competed at the King Cup International Badminton Open in the People’s Republic of China, finishing third.

Priyanshu Rajawat, a member of India’s Thomas Cup-winning team, is also in the squad.

India’s sole representative in the men’s doubles event at the Malaysia Open is the pairing of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. Ranked ninth in the men’s doubles, ‘Sat-Chi’ have been seeded seventh in Malaysia.

The women’s singles event will see Aakarshi Kashyap, Anupama Upadhyaya and Malvika Bansod lead India’s charge in the absence of PV Sindhu.

Meanwhile, India’s challenge in the women’s doubles event will be spearheaded by sixth-seeded Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, who head into the tournament after winning the Syed Modi International tournament.

India’s other two doubles pairings in the women’s event are eighth-seeded Ashwini Ponnappa/Tanisha Crasto and the sibling duo of Rutaparna Panda/Swetaparna Panda.

In the mixed doubles category, India have three pairings in Dhruv Kapila/Tanisha Crasto, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran/Aadya Variyath and Ashith Surya/Amrutha Pramuthesh.

The Indian mixed doubles teams of Sathish Kumar Karunakaran/Aadya Variyath and Ashith Surya/Amrutha Pramuthesh will face each other in the opening round of the mixed doubles event.

The Malaysia Open is the first tournament of the 2025 BWF World Tour.
