Alpine skiing World Cup: How to watch Mikaela Shiffrin try to match Lindsey Vonn's World Cup record at Kransjka Gora
After five consecutive victories, the two-time Olympic champion was denied the chance to equal Vonn's women's World Cup record of 82 wins by the weather in Zagreb. This weekend at Kranjska Gora in Slovenia, she could match or even break it. Here's how to follow the action.
Mikaela Shiffrin is just one behind Lindsey Vonn's FIS Alpine Ski World Cup wins record for women.
The two-time Olympic champion won the first of two scheduled night-time slaloms on the Sljeme in Zagreb on Wednesday (4 January) to claim her fifth World Cup victory in succession and her 81st in all.
She had high hopes of equalling Vonn's mark on Thursday, but unseasonably warm weather and strong winds in the Croatian capital forced the race to be cancelled.
Shiffrin now goes to Kranjska Gora in Slovenia for two giant slaloms on Saturday and Sunday.
If she wins one, she will join Vonn on 82 World Cup wins with just Ingemar Stenmark (86) ahead of them. A double would see her move past her fellow American.
The 27-year-old tops the overall World Cup standings with 975 points, a whopping 409 points ahead of Petra Vlhova.
This season, Shiffrin is seeking a fifth overall crown which would put her second on the all-time winner's list behind Austria's Annemarie Moser-Pröll who has six titles to her name.
