The 27th BWF World Championships in badminton are continuing in Tokyo, Japan, with second-round action concluding across the five events of men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles on Wednesday, 24 August 2022.
Round of 32 matches in all five events will take place today, with last-16 matches scheduled from Thursday onwards. The entire lower half of the men's singles draw is in action today, having had Tuesday off.
That means names like Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia and defending champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore, as well as world number two Momota Kento of Japan, are in action. In women's singles, Olympic champion Chen Yufei also begins her campaign, as does second seed Tai Tzu-ying of Chinese Taipei.
