“FASHION AND SPORT” SHOW
A fashion show to celebrate the unique encounter between the worlds of sport and fashion
On 4 December 2024, the Olympic Museum opened its new temporary exhibition entitled “Fashion and Sport, from One Podium to Another”, co-produced with the Museum of Decorative Arts (MAD) in Paris. On this occasion, the museum hosted a fashion show to celebrate the unique encounter between the worlds of sport and fashion.
Produced by artistic director Yannick Aellen, who founded the “Mode Suisse” platform, this event brought together ADAPT by SPF, DYL, IRENE MÜNGER, Lacoste, Louis Origine, Rafael Kouto, and Sports Club, plus Germanier, who created the costumes for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
IRENE MÜNGER
IRENE MÜNGER: Her “Paradise” signature collection reflects her passion for unconventional shapes and polychrome prints, with a style inspired by the colours and dynamic shapes of sportswear. The creator combines the aesthetic of these with tailoring, thereby creating a powerful vision of joie de vivre, colour and creativity. The eclectic digital prints in the collection were designed by the creator herself and produced by St Gallen-based textile manufacturer Jakob Schlaepfer. Münger is a Swiss Design Award winner and has also won three federal design prizes.
Rafael KoUto
Rafael Kouto is an upcycling and community couture brand characterised by a distinctive, visionary and hybrid aesthetic merging West African and Swiss culture. A pioneer in sustainability, it creates unique items based on sustainable fabrics and upcycling techniques, using local knowhow and artisanry. The collection presented here takes a look back at the brand’s collaborations and iconic creations since 2017, highlighting the world of sportswear. Remixed to celebrate the heritage and aesthetic of Black culture identities, these items reflect their influence on sportswear fashion.
Sports Club
Founded in Zurich by a collective of graphic designers, Sports Club is a fashion brand devoted to reimagining sports clothing with a touch of elegance and bold graphic prints. It is inspired by the original aesthetics of times past, like the gangster style of the 1980s. The Sports Club collections combine athletic functionality with a retro refinement.
Louis Origine
Laure and Steve Gallay created Louis Origine in 2020, beginning a new chapter in how sport influences the brand. Martial arts in particular have inspired the choice of iconic fabric by Louis Origine and shaped a unique understanding of movement. This vision finds its expression in the philosophy of Zhuang Zhou, which follows “the movements of water” with fluidity and harmony. A quest for balance and nature lies at the heart of each creation.
Lacoste
An iconic fashion house for more than 90 years and a fashion-sport pioneer, Lacoste is not only showing the items presented in the exhibition but also drawing on its huge archives, which tell the unique story about its influence on fashion and sport. These items, which combine timelessness and elegance, take us on a journey that illustrates the knowhow and changes in style from all the art directors of the house, from Robert George who designed the first crocodile to Ruben Torres, Gilles Rosier, Christophe Lemaire, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Louise Trotter & today Pelagia Kolotouros.
ADAPT BY SPF I + II
ADAPT by SPF is a project run by the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation with Catherine Gasser, Ulrich Kössl and Yannick Aellen. This Lausanne show includes items from the 2023 collections created with Lilla Wicki plus Angelina Bergamin and Daniel Kaldis, former Fashion Design and Technology students at the STF Zurich, together with the 2024 capsule collection created by Victor Prieux, his Visual (ArchivesTM) Society label and HEAD – Geneva students Clarice Pasternak, Ewen Danzeisen and Rubène Dimetto.
DYL – DEFINE YOUR LIFE
