Tom Bohrer rowed for the USA at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics, winning silver medals in the four both times. He also competed at six World Championships between 1987-94, winning silvers in the four in 1989 and 1991, and a bronze in that event in 1993. In 1989 Bohrer was voted US Rowing Athlete of the Year and captained the 1992 US Olympic rowing team. He also competed at the Goodwill Games in 1990, winning a silver medal in the eight.

Bohrer graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1986 and later settled near Boston. He also became a strength and fitness trainer at AccesSportAmerica, a non-profit organization working on fitness in children and adults with disabilities. Bohrer was certified as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and as a personal trainer (CPT).
