バイオグラフィー

Sabine Braun, a multi-athlete, was the girlfriend of javelin thrower Beate Peters and the first German athlete who admitted her homosexuality openly. She took part from 1984-2000 as the first German female athlete in five Olympic Games (1984/1988 for West Germany finishing sixth and fourteenth, 1992-2000 for Germany winning bronze and placing seventh and fifth) and won a bronze medal in 1992. The educated industrial business manager also competed in five World Championships from 1991-99, winning heptathlon gold in 1991 and 1997, and the silver in 1993. In 1985 and 1994 she appeared in the World Cup and was European Champion in 1990 and 1994 and runner-up in 2002 (her last competition). At the World Indoor Championships she won gold in 1997. Her collection was completed by 14 junior and adult German titles.

She has received numerous awards, including the Rudolf Harbig Memorial Award in 2002, the "Goldenes Band" (Golden Band) of the Berlin sports press in 2003, and in 1990 the "Sportplakette des Landes NRW" (Sport Badge of Northrhine-Westfalia).
