Bob Tetzlaff attended UCLA and rode for the North Hollywood Wheelmen. He was one of the top US road racers of the 1960s, winning the 1960 Olympic Trials, and winning the Amateur Bicycle League of America (ABLA) road championship in 1966. He rode at the 1958 World Championships and the 1959 Pan American Games, and in 1963 won a silver medal in the team road race at the Pan Ams. His best year was 1962 when he won 18 major races in the US and Canada, after winning the inaugural Nevada City Criterium in 1961. Tetzlaff later entered cycling administration, managing several US international teams, and also tried to bring the US rulebook up to international standards. He was a lifelong elementary school teacher.
